Nacogdoches is filled with music, all types and all the time, from the front porch “old time” music group that plays downtown every Saturday afternoon, to big names such as Willie Nelson and other stars, and everyone in between – Nacogdoches is a great place to live if music is important to you.

Nacogdoches Community Band (band nerds forever!)

Has it been awhile since you’ve played? Perhaps you wonder if you’ll remember how to read music? Or maybe it’s all still new and fresh in your mind and you just want to play with a group again. Everyone welcome (ages 16+) for this friendly, non-competitive concert band style community band. Many thanks to SFA for supporting the community band. New members always welcome.

Pine Knot Music Co-op (it’s a beautiful thing)

For more than 10 years, the Pinetop Mystics and the Pine Knot have been hosting free and fabulous musical events, featuring local acoustic musicians, as well as stars from other areas around the nation. This unique group is worth a visit.

Lumberjack Marching Band (at Stephen F. Austin State University)

Create great memories and form lifelong friendships (and yes, and enjoy your musical time together, as well) with the Lumberjack Band.

Golden Dragon Band (at Nacogdoches High School)

Nationally famous and invited to exhibition events around the country, including California and Hawaii, the Golden Dragon Band is one of the most exciting groups to be a part of in all of Nacogdoches. Whether you are a student musician in the band now, an alumni who comes back to help judge squad comp, or a regular member of our wider community who helps support the band by eating BBQ and getting great discounts with your Gold Card, everyone’s involvement is much appreciated!
